About the person

Dr Astrid Lueg is an internist with additional training in palliative medicine and nutritional medicine. She advises us in the areas of internal medicine, palliative medicine and GP care.

Dr. Lueg has extensive clinical and outpatient experience. She has been working as a GP in internal medicine at the “König 33” group practice in Brühl since 2006 – with a focus on palliative and nutritional medicine. At the same time, she took over the medical direction and management of the SAPV Rhein-Erft-Bonn, Euskirchen GmbH palliative care team in 2012. Under her leadership, specialized outpatient palliative care was expanded to the Euskirchen (2019) and Bonn (2020) locations.

Dr. Lueg began her medical career as a junior doctor for internal medicine at Dreifaltigkeitskrankenhaus Wesseling. This was followed by stints at St. Agnes Hospital Bocholt and a period as a consultant physician in the psychiatric department at St. Vincent Hospital Rhede. Even before studying medicine, she completed a voluntary social year in internal medicine at Marien-Hospital in Erftstadt-Frauenthal.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Lueg has been a volunteer on various committees for many years, including as state chairwoman of the German Society for Palliative Medicine (2019-2025), as training officer for the North Rhine Medical Association (from 2025) and as 1st chairwoman of the Palliative Network Südlicher Erftkreis e.V.

She is also active academically: her dissertation dealt with the changing meaning of healing terms in the history of medicine. She is the author of numerous specialist articles on outpatient palliative care and has been awarded the LAV Petrick Foundation prize, among others.

With her many years of practical experience, her scientific expertise and her commitment to the palliative care network, Dr. Lueg brings valuable expertise to medical, ethical and care strategy issues.
